This particular unit is in wonderful cosmetic conidition and appears to have only a few minor scratches. It sports both sentry monitoring as well as McIntosh autoformers which are still used today in high end audio. This unit was McIntosh's first piece that was solid state. Sometimes the left channel goes seems like it's not working, but twisting the input cable in the RCA jack a little bit brings it back. There's scratches and wear on the paint but the chrome looks good. But if you're getting into audio and are looking for a good amp to start with, or you're looking to build a fun second system, this is a great deal! It's in good working order and I've been using it for about 18 months but knowing what I know now, I could have done a neater job on the repairs!Īnyhow, if you're looking for a museum quality vintage McIntosh, this is one not for you. This was the early pandemic, I needed music in my work space, and there was nobody around to repair my old MC-250 except myself! I ended up replacing a faulty pre-amp transistor, running new leads to the input PCB (the old connections were brittle and snapped when I removed the board) and replacing all the old electrolytic capacitors except for the big 9300 mfd ones up top. I'm selling this for a low price because I made some repairs on it when I was first learning how to work on this stuff.
